Description

When trainers are able to estimate the effects diet and exercise have on their clients, results can be reproduced in many different environments.  This course is about more than just nutrition.  It teaches trainers the details of our body’s metabolic processes, how to estimate metabolic rates in the gym based on oxygen intake, and how to estimate caloric balance based on a client’s individual metabolic profile.  The course then applies the latest research on foods, and foods effect on metabolism, to allow trainers to recommend specific diets for clients of all levels of training.  The course also includes the latest Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) values, nutritional guides with glycemic indices, metabolic equivalents charts, and a dietary planning guide.

Course Objectives

A student will be able to apply metabolic calculations to their clients’ training routines.

A student will be able to describe the roles of macronutrients and micronutrients in metabolism.

A student will be able to disprove nutrition myths.

A student will be able to recommend dietary components necessary for optimal performance.

Customer Reviews

Great review of the science of metabolism and nutrition. It gets into a lot of detail, but has summary boxes throughout the text. The course also has a dietary planning guide included that includes all the known glycemic index values.  This was great for application.

Great course. Very easy to understand and broken down well.

Great information!! I purchased the online product and was able to go at my own pace with no problems at all.

As a CEU i found this course extremely helpful. It reinforced some of my current advice to clients, and made me alter some of my other advice. Very in-depth but easy to follow, and i love that the test goes right along with the material so you can mark off answers as you go. Excellent!

I enjoyed the course. It affirmed many things I had learned informally. It will help me help others.

Course was good. I really wish I wouldve came to the live workshop because I felt like I was looking for answers the whole time, but still very beneficial!

I really enjoyed the course. Occassionally it was a bit over my head in some of the more technical areas, but I muddled through. I would suggest someone take a look at question # 88 on the test. After reviewing my materials I am certain the first and last choice are correct, and I am left to ponder what I'm mis-reading about the middle two choices. I believe ALL of the answers are examples of carb loading, and that there is no exception listed. I passed the test, so am not overly concerned, but it could make a difference for the next person. I learned a lot, and reaffirmed/refreshed that which I knew, but hadn't used in a long time. Thank you!

Outlined well, a bit more in-depth scientifically than I would have liked it to be, but good information for all fitness levels of training.

Glad I signed up for course. Very informative information I will use with my clients.

Very in dept. Maybe even a little more than I liked, but over all a great course

Awesome review course. Many similar principles learned during nutrition section of CSCS exam.

It was a bit wordy and I had to look up some of the ones I didn't know, but it was overall very informative. I wasn't prepared for the test being 100 questions long, but since I could save and come back to it later I thought it was no big deal. After completing half of the test I clicked "SAVE" and exited. When I returned, however; none of my answers had been saved so be wary of that [Admin: SAVE function corrected on 1/7/10].

great course,great info's
