Description

This course is the ultimate guide for assessing clients who have complaints of functional shoulder pain.  Students are introduced to the musculoskeletal components of the shoulder.  The focus then shifts to assessment techniques for identifying weaknesses or mal-alignments in various parts of the kinetic chain.  Specific pathologies are then discussed (i.e. subacromial impingement, adhesive capsulitis).  Students learn how each pathology is due to the previously identified weaknesses or mal-alignments.  The final component of the course emphasizes which exercises can be used to treat specifically identified weakness and mal-alignments.

Course Objectives

A student will be able to correctly describe joint osteology & tissue function.

A student will be able to assess shoulder characteristics (i.e. scapular instability, rotator cuff weakness and movement faults).

A student will be able to apply assessment results to identify certain common pathologies.

A student will be able to identify RED FLAGS requiring specialist care or specific training techniques.

A student will be able to prescribe exercises to treat specific weaknesses and mal-alignments.

Great assessments and exercise programs for the shoulder that I am using with clients.

Very technical but thorough. Some of the answers were not obvious so you really had to understand what you read.
